Summer can provide lots of opportunities to hit the open road, whether you head for a vacation in the mountains or a trip to the beach. Make the most of your time in the car with this road trip packing list

While most of your things will be packed in the trunk, you should keep some personal items nearby while you’re driving. Have your ID, your proof of insurance, and any roadside assistance memberships on hand. Be sure to bring your car’s owner’s manual with you in case you need to address any mechanical issues.

Snacks are an important part of any road trip, and healthy snacks will keep you focused and energized. If you have the space, consider bringing a cooler packed with pre-made sandwiches, cheese sticks, and berries. Pre-slice vegetables and fruit for a quick easy snack in the car, too, and pack protein-rich treats like jerky or mixed nuts to help keep you fuller in between meals.

Avoid the habit of searching for and downloading podcasts or playlists while driving. Instead, prepare all of your entertainment beforehand. A streaming app like Spotify will let you make a playlist especially for the trip. If you prefer to learn or be entertained, download an audiobook.

Clark Chevrolet has many models in stock that have great gas mileage and space for road trips, like the Equinox and Trax.
